playing cards

Playing card games and games with dice will help your children learn math facts in an enjoyable and fun way. Take a look at the following files with some games and ideas to play with children from Kinder to year 6.

All you need is a deck of cards or a pair of dice.

Kinder - 2: Snap

Divide the cards amongst the players.

Snap the cards that are the same.

Snap the card that comes after the one played.

Snap the card that comes before the one played.

Snap the cards that add up to 10.

Year 3-6 - Fast Facts

Deal out the cards to each player [2]

Both players lay out a card face up.

The first person to multiply the two numbers together wins the cards.

Play continues and the winner is the one with the most cards at the end.

Variation

  • Remove cards that are beyond children's ability e.g 8,9
  • Use addition or subtraction
  • Start with a pair of dice and tally the scores - first to ten wins
